16 year old Soraya

We first heard about Bangladeshi minor Soraya on 28th July. She was trafficked to Delhi from Bangladesh.

Timeline- 29th July to 7th August

We wanted to rescue the minor victim right away and provided the Delhi Police with evidence about her. However, the police were indifferent and non cooperative. Thankful that the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights intervened.

Our two rescue attempts failed.

The first attemt failed because by the time the police initiated a rescue, Soraya was not at the brothel.

The second attempt failed because by the time the police initiated a rescue, Soraya was not in the state – we received intel that she was on the way to Kolkata.

On 6th August, she was put on a train and made the 22 hour, 1500 km journey from Delhi to Howrah Railway Station in Kolkata all alone.

A trafficker was waiting to pick her up from Howrah Railway Station.

When Soraya’s train reached Howrah Railway Station on the 7th morning, the police and our team were ready.

At 8:15 am Soraya was rescued. The trafficker was a no show. The police are investigating the case. We will share more details
