will you choose to be a breaker of chains?

WHAT IS SEX TRAFFICKING?

OUR WORK

RESCUE, RESTORATION & JUSTICE – THE POWER OF THREE

RESCUED

IMPACTED

Their parents decided their fate even before they were born…

It’s a GIRL!
This announcement is met with great rejoicing in certain communities in India. Not because the daughter will bring joy or happiness to the family, rather because she can be sold to a brothel when she is older and earn money for them by selling her body to multiple customers for decades, till the day comes when she is no longer desirable or contracts some sexually transmitted disease.

HAPPENING NOW

THE BEDIAS

The Bedia community sang and danced as ‘rai’ folk artists during the rule of the monarchy in central India.

The Kanjars

The Kanjar community is a nomadic tribe in Rajasthan, who were once known for their prowess in hunting.

The Banchhadas

The Banchhadas in West Madhya Pradesh are a tightly woven community

THE NATS

Nat Purwa, a small village in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, is about a two-hour drive from Lucknow.

Communities we work with

THE DEVADASIS

Daughters born into the Devadasi community are dedicated to serve at the temple.

A survivor of sex trafficking is a hero not just a victim. She has overcome a justice system that isn’t interested in giving her justice, a society that perpetuates her slavery, taints her future, and rejects her identity, and finally, a welfare system that ignores her. She has to reject the predominant message of being unwanted and believe that she is worthy of love and a normal life. This realisation also means that I need to put aside my ideas of an empowered woman and start seeing what empowerment is for her.
