A 14 year old child rescued from Varanasi

On 9th April we received intel about a minor being exploited in Varanasi. Our team immediately left for Varanasi to verify the lead. After the lead was verified our team went to meet the Commissioner of Police the next day and shared the information we had regarding the victim.  The Commissioner of Police asked us to talk with the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police of the Women and Crime department, who then asked us to meet the Additional Commissioner of Police,  Cantonment. After sharing the intel with him, he agreed to initiate the raid. The police and our team planned the rescue operation.

The location where the brothel was situated was a congested street and to access it was difficult. We sensed there might be a risk of the brothel being tipped-off so the police and our team carefully planned the rescue. 

Later that day the team met the Additional Commissioner of Police, Sarnath (an area in Varanasi) at the Sarnath Police station. The Station House Officer was also present at the meeting and they both were cooperative with us and assured that they would be going ahead with the rescue operation. 

After all the legal procedures were complete, the police and our team headed to the targeted location. The brothel was a private housing property situated in the middle of the city. It was surrounded with all kinds of shops. The brothel consisted of two bedrooms and a kitchen. They all lived in one of the bedrooms and the other room was used for prostitution . 

At 3:38 pm on 10th April the police and our team raided the brothel and rescued the victim. The victim was 14 year old Esmi.  The police arrested three males and one female.  We accompanied Esmi to the police station.  The police took the accused to the police station.

At 10:49 pm,  the First Information Report was registered. The female who was arrested was Esmi’s aunt.  The three males were customers. 

On 11th April,  Esmi was taken to the hospital for a medical check-up after which she was placed at a shelter home.
