On 17th September 2025, we got intel about a child who was being forced into prostitution in Agra.
On 24th September, we spoke to the Additional Commissioner of Police, Agra, who agreed to assign a police team to initiate a raid. He directed us to the ACP , Saidabad, UP.
We met the ACP who after reviewing the details assigned a police team to conduct the raid. Before the police could set out, we learned that the victim was not at the location. The raid was moved to the next day, 25th September.
When we tried to reach the ACP the next day, she was in a meeting with the Commissioner of Police. We tried to reach the ACP, Agra, he was also unavailable. Throughout the day we tried repeatedly to reach the ACPs but they did not respond to our calls.
On 26th September we sent a message to the ACP , Saidabad, to request her to provide a team for rescue. The ACP assigned us a police team who would be ready at 3 pm. While we were waiting for the police to initiate the raid, we got a call from the ACP that there were some clashes within the city that had caused communal tensions so most police personnel were deployed to maintain law and order. The rescue was pushed to the next day.
On 27th September, we spoke to the ACP who scheduled the rescue operation that afternoon.
At 5:43 pm that evening the police and our team raided a paying guest accommodation building and the victim, 15 year old Rohana, was rescued. The police continued to collect incriminating evidence from the rooms. The police arrested five people who were present.
After the police completed their reports, we proceeded to the police station to complete the legal formalities. The police registered the First Information Report.
We accompanied Rohana to record her statement in a special court on 30th September. While we were waiting, Rohana shared her story with us.
Rohana’s parents got divorced and she went to stay with her father in Kanpur. She studied in a good CBSE school. When she was in the VIII standard, her father brought another woman home. Rohana started to feel uneasy in her own home as her father’s attention was totally on the woman and didn’t think twice about his daughter who needed him.
Since her father didn’t pay her fees, she was forced to drop out of school. Shortly after that she met a boy, they dated a bit, but then he dumped her.
After that, she started dating another boy much older than her. He told Rohana if she moved to Lucknow, he would marry her. Starry-eyed Rohana left for Lucknow. Once she reached Lucknow, her boyfriend told her that before getting married they needed to buy a house, so she had to start earning towards that.
Rohana, just a child of 15, had zero work experience and had no clue how to earn money. Her boyfriend said he would help her. His help came in the form of an introduction to his friend who was a pimp. Both of them managed to convince the deeply in love and gullible Rohana that she could earn big money through prostitution. Rohana, who wanted to get married and contribute towards their dream house, started attending customers. That her young body was being used to finance her boyfriend’s lifestyle never entered her innocent mind.
After a few weeks, the pimp and her boyfriend had a falling out and her boyfriend dragged Rohana to Agra. There he introduced her to another set of pimps, whose speciality was to supply minor girls to hotels. The pimp and boyfriend sent Rohana to different hotels to have sex with customers.
