On 3rd March 2026 we received intelligence from our partner organization in Bangladesh that a minor had been trafficked to West Bengal, India. After receiving all the necessary information about the victim, our team began searching different locations.
On 13th March, our team identified the victim’s location but the house was locked and neither the victim nor trafficker were present. The house was located in a small town near Kolkata, where not many people lived. The team continued searching for the victim and trafficker.
On 24th March, we got intel that the victim and trafficker were back at home.

On 25th March, our team met officers from the Criminal Investigation Department and shared the details we had on the victim. They directed us to the police station in Barasat. The Police in Barasat reviewed the information and directed us to the Habra Police Station. Once again we shared the information we had with the police from Habra Police Station, they directed us to the Gobardanga Police Station. Our team then spoke to the Officer-in-Charge and shared the information. After reviewing the information, the Officer in Charge agreed to initiate the raid.
The police and our team reached the location at 9:55 pm
On 25th March 2026 at 10:10 pm, the police raided the house and the victim was successfully rescued. We accompanied the victim to the police station. The police took the accused, an 18 year old male, to the police station. Later that night after the police collected all the information, the police filed the First Information Report, FIR.
We accompanied 15 year old Rachita to the local government hospital for her medical tests. Once the medical procedures were completed we accompanied her to a protective home in Kolkata.
The accused is currently in police custody. From the time he was arrested, he has applied for bail thrice in the Barasat Lower Court. His bail application was rejected all three times.
Rachita is safe in a protective home. The police are continuing to investigate the case.
