We got intel about a 16 year old who was being forced into prositution in Bagakheda village in MP (53.5 kms from Ratlam.) While verifying the lead, we got intel about a few more minors  forced into prostituion in Dhodar village as well.  We decided to focus on Bagakheda village first and then pursue leads from Dhodar village. As soon as we collected evidence of the minor, we presented it to the Superintendint of Police in Ratlam. He shared details of another police officer who would assist us and initiate the raid. Based on repeated tip offs from some members of the police to the brothels a little before a rescue operation, we shared our concerns with the SP.  He assured us that there would be no tip off this time.  He also wanted to work alongside us and help tackle the issue of child prostitution in his region.

We contacted the police officer who the SP connected us with. After sharing about the minor we were tracking, he shared that he did not have any lady police personnel at the station and connected us to another police station.  We spoke to them and soon there was a police team in place ready to initiate the raid.

The women rescued and an infant who were rescued from the brothel

On 15th February at 5 pm, the police and our team raided the brothel.  As we checked different rooms looking for the victim, we soon discovered that she had escaped from the roof. We quickly sent a team to look for her but we were unable to find her.  On inspecting all the rooms, the police found two women in the brothel. After the police collected the evidence from the brothel  and wrote their report, the two women and our team proceeded to the police station.

At the police station, the police were reluctant to file a First Information Report. We had to call the SP to intervene. He directed the police to write an FIR under PITA (prevention of immoral trafficking act).

The next day we met the SP at his office and requested him to instruct the police to continue looking for the minor who escaped the day before and add POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act )and other relevant sections to the FIR. He assured us the police would continue looking for the minor.
