In 2022, Aman and Reenu made their way to India. They lived in Kolkata at Aman’s relative’s house. Later they moved to Mumbai where Reenu worked as a housekeeper.
The couple started to struggle for money and soon they started fighting. Aman started physically abusing Reenu and desperate for money started talking about her getting into prostitution. Having made his own network, he contacted Simpi, a female pimp and told him about Reenu. Simpi’s speciality was providing minor girls and women to customers. Simpi agreed to take Reenu on. Aman forced Reenu to wear skimpy clothes and shot explicit pictures and videos of her – so his wife would be able to entice customers as well as blackmail Reenu if she ever thought of running away. Aman sold all his wife’s jewellery and lived off her earnings through prostitution.
Months later Aman’s brother asked him to return to Bangladesh. Reenu was determined and desperate to return home with him. Simpi refused to give Reenu her passport and Reenu decided to take the risk and enter Bangladesh without her passport.
When Aman and Reenu reached Assam, Reenu was held captive in a room by three men who over six days raped her repeatedly. If that wasn’t vile enough, her husband recorded them having sex so he could blackmail his wife to ensure she never runs away.
Though the couple reached Bangladesh without any incident, Reenu was battered and broken.
Some months later Aman suggested they return to India. He promised things would change and it would be a fresh start for them. He would get his wife a housekeeping job while he worked in a construction site. With hope more than certainty, Reenu agreed. They entered India through Kolkata bringing sons Tanish and Siddique with them. After they stopped in Mumbai for a few days, they continued to Surat.
In Surat Aman was introduced to notorious Bangladeshi trafficker and brothel owner Sohail. Sohail ran a brothel where he forced children, minor girls and women into prostitution. His brothel housed 15 girls. They were dressed in revealing and skimpy clothes and beaten and abused if they refused to have sex with customers. Reenu was forced to dress up, wear make-up and style her hair so she would be appealing and attractive to the customers. Kusum, who also worked for Sohial, taught the girls all kinds of tricks.
One day, the police raided the brothel. Sohail who had sufficient pull and connections escaped. Reenu saw it as her chance to leave the brothel and head back to Bangladesh and shared her plan with Aman. Aman promptly told Sohail who told Aman to teach her a lesson. So Aman physically abused her and locked her in a room with their sons.
