A girl was rescued yesterday (Feb. 4) in Miraj, Maharashtra after Freedom Firm investigators found her in a brothel and reported the information to the police. Her brothel keeper was arrested and charged under sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Immoral Traffic Prevention Act. The girl is originally from West Bengal and informed the investigator, while he was undercover, that she was sold for INR 1,00,000 (USD 1,666) to the brothel keeper for one month. Prior to Miraj she was trafficked to Bangalore and Pune.

Please pray for this girl. That her age will be determined accurately and that she will be protected from early release. Pray also that the Freedom Firm social worker in West Bengal will be able to find her home and gather information about her family situation.
