We rescued Meera from Ganga Jamuma in Nagpur for the second time in September 2023. She barely spent a few weeks in the shelter home after which she was released by the court back to her family early November. Once again we learned Meera was back in the red light area in Ganga Jamuna.

We tried to rescue Meera but were unable to; one time the police were unavailable and the other time Meera was not at the brothel.

We met with the Deputy Commissioner of police and Police Inspector in Nagpur and shared about Meera being rescued twice before and trafficked a few days later back to the red light area. Since she was rescued twice before, Meera and the pimp started to get vigilant and took measures to protect themselves.

This time we decided to try a totally new strategy as Meera and the pimps were familiar with our earlier modus operandis. Before we could finalise a strategy,  on 4th January 2024 at 5:30 pm, the police conducted a mass raid in Ganga Jamuna. Meera was rescued along with 31 other women and girls. The police detained 15 people; customers, pimps and brothel keepers.

The question is, how do we keep Meera from being trafficked?
