A dera in MP

In December 2025, we received intel about a minor being exploited at a brothel in Bagakheda. Since Bagakheda is a known hub for prostitution we left to Bagakheda to verify the lead.

Though we were unable to find the victim, we continued investigating Bagakheda and other deras (villages)  searching for the minor.

The brothel

On 10th March 2026 we learned that the minor  we were tracking in December was spotted in Bagakheda.  After we verified it was the same victim we were tracking, we left to meet the local police to plan a rescue operation. On the 11th we met a senior police inspector who agreed to initiate a raid the next day.

On 12th March our team set out with the police team. The Deputy Superintendent was part of the rescue team. Our team reached the location at 2:50 pm.

At 3:15 pm, the police and our team raided the brothel.  The brothel was part of  40–50 brothels scattered in Bagakheda.  This particular brothel consisted of three rooms and resembled a small two-bedroom house.  When we went to the  first room, it  was empty. When we went to the second room we found the victim inside and she was trying to escape from a back door. The police rescued her.  The brothel keeper was not present during the raid.  When we asked the victim about her parents, we learned that her mother was her brothel keeper and a known brothel keeper in the area.   The police found the victim’s mother in another brothel collecting money. The police arrested her.

The victim and accused were taken to the police station.   At 9:45 pm after the police completed collecting details, they completed writing the  First Information Report, FIR.   We accompanied the victim to a hospital for a basic medical examination after which we accompanied her to a shelter home in Ratlam where she was placed for her safety and protection.
